According to Saturday's post from « Portail du Web », more than 1.1 million copies of doorway pages were visited in English, and another 19,000 in French. The demand compares to such free online sensations as zobibi, which every webmaster made available for visits, and Fred's post about "The X factor as a SEO theory". The SEO community has endlessly debated the effects of making such SEO contest just like seocontest2008.

Most of the people have made nice pages available online, with some saying that seocontest2008 is a valuable promotional tool for the oganizer and others worrying that visits to their regular web sites would be harmed. Many of you have been asking about the contest, so I'm happy to report that barring any apocalyptic shifts at the SEO Sphere forum, the contest is very likely to return in the fall. Now, the official word from the network is, "No word yet regarding the massive hacking attack. We will announce if we find the IP and the name of the hacker." We hope so, because this massive attack was really unfair and against the spirit of seocontest2008.

However, in addition to some scuttlebutt that came our way recently saying seocontest2008 is set to finish in mid to late April, someone from the organisation told me yesterday he was feeling pretty good and is "pretty sure" the contest will end on April 1st. According to the SEO Sphere forum, the French Team are currently trying new stuffs to keep on the 4th place.

When asked if he gets sick of people asking if the French Team is going to win, one of the French Team webmaster said actually this is what they want ! He thinks the idea of a SEO contest's participants having that sort of relationship is interesting and cool and added that the people should « wait until the end of seocontest2008, because some really great stuff is planned ! All those questions about how to be a great SEO will be answered! » And yes, that's a direct quote.
